Pastor's Pen - July 3rd 2009
Happy 4th of July and our celebration of the Independance of our great country.  At this time of the year most of us realize the wonderful freedom that we enjoy.  We wave flags, set off fireworks, grill out at the lake or the beach or at a pool somewhere with close friends.  Yet in all of this, most of the time the actual freedom we enjoy is just taken for granted.  Our country is in a desperate economic situation and yet we spend more,  try to work less and have more recreation, with little thought as to what it cost to get this freedom.  While we cook or swim, men and women have given their lives for our freedom.   What thoughts do we have of them?  Patriotism is a term used to show that we love our country, and today it is not shown very much.   We won't understand the value of something until it is taken away and there are people and countries who actively seek to take our everyday freedom from us.  What will we do to keep the freedom?  What are we willing to pay, are we as willing as our forefathers to give our all to this wonderful country and not let it slip away?  So much already has been taken from us.  We live in fear a lot of the time.  God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind.  Turn your eyes upon Jesus.  Look to Him during these times and pray for our country, for our leaders in Government and in society.  Let's make this fourth of July really mean something for this country, more than just the party for ourselves but for the good old USA.  Founded on Judeo-Christian principles, we who are Christians need to stand up for our beliefs as well - this is  a time when our Christianity should be shown to everyone around us!   Be blessed and have a safe 4th of July.

Open Arms Community Church began in 2000, and our continued purpose is to worship as one.  We understand that we are truly nothing without Christ in our lives, leading our lives, and we seek His presence daily.  We are a part of the family of God and He has brought us together, as a church family, to share our common joys, sorrows, love, worship and faith.  Find out more...
